As the name suggests, a wired router uses a cable to connect to the computer and enable a network connection. Despite the line being connected to a single computer, the router still allows sharing of the connection to any device that is connected to the network.

This allows multiple users to access the network easily, by using a password. Access points amplify Wi-Fi signals so that a device can be far from the router but can still be connected to the network.
